How do I find articles on a topic or by a specific author in an old magazine/newspaper that is not available online?
From Guides
You have three options, depending on the publication you’re looking for.
a. Use a print index. Search the ALADIN Catalog: type the title of the
magazine/newspaper you need AND the word “index” to see if a print
index is available. You can then search the index by author or subject.
b. Search the magazine/newspaper website archive. Many magazines and
newspapers let you search through their web archives for free. So you can
search for a topic/author and get the exact date and title of the article. Search
for the magazine/journal’s title in the ALADIN Catalog. Remember: you
can’t search for an article in library catalogs.
c. Search the database Ulrich's Periodicals Directory, available from the ALADIN Research Portal.
This database will tell you if and where a magazine, newspaper, or journal is
indexed, either with the full text or citations only. If Gelman subscribes to
any of the databases that index the title you need, you can then search that
specific database for articles.
