What’s a database?

From Guides

In library lingo, a database refers to a search engine that helps you find resources on a topic. At GW, we have more than 200 databases, and most of them cover specific subject areas like psychology, business, art, or literature. Almost all our databases help you locate articles in periodicals such as scholarly journals, magazines, or newspapers. Some of them also help you locate books or chapters in books. For more information on databases and how to locate articles, see Do It Yourself@Gelman.
