Description: The building was named for Francis Scott Key, and was formerly the Francis Scott Key Hotel. It was built for Howard Etchison in 1925 and purchased by GW in 1976. Although it was converted into a dormitory, it retains its original form and appearance. It is faced with brick and is eight stories high with a cornice and exaggerated details. A limestone belt course runs over the second floor. The hall is situated on the southern corridor of campus and provides excellent access to the Law School and University Yard. The historic elegance of the former 1920s hotel creates a splendor and beauty unparalleled by other residence halls. The first residence hall director was appointed in 1976-77.
