Description: Lerner Hall was dedicated April 26, 1984 and with Stockton Hall and the Jacob Burns Law Library, constitutes the Law School. The five-level building was made possible by a gift from Theodore N. Lerner, a Washington real estate developer. Lerner received a law degree from GW in 1950. The building is constructed with a brick veneer to match Stockton and relates to the predominant historic building material of the Foggy Bottom area. Lerner Hall is a contemporary version of Victorian architecture, and was described at its opening by the Washington Post as “a progressive piece of architecture and urban design.”
Formerly on the square: Bacon Hall, named for Joel Smith Bacon, University President (1843-1854) formerly stood at this site.
