Student Life (1963-1964 and 1968-1969)
The governing body responsible for the conduct of all student activities was the Student Council elected annually by the student body. All University events for the ‘60s included Orientation week, Homecoming Week, Goat Show (a skit by each of the pledge classes of the sororities presented in Lisner Auditorium.), Religion in Life Programs, Messiah Chorus under the direction of Dr. Robert Harmon, Career Conference, sponsored by student council, Spring concert, Spring dance, Dance Concert and the Spring weekend, which began with May Day Follies. During the evening outstanding student leaders were honored, and the May Day Queen, chosen by election from the University women court were presented. Publications included the Hatchet, Cherry Tree, Potomac, Amicus Curiae and The George Washington Law Review, Mecheleciv (School of Engineering), The Percolator (School of Pharmacy) and The Speculum (School of Medicine). 1963-1964 Student Handbook

A student Court was established after passage of the following Resolution of the University Senate on May 9, 1969: A Resolution to Enable the Creation of a Student Court to Hear Breaches of the University Peace (69/2) 1963-64 Student Handbook
Traditions in the late 60s included Colonial Concert, Student Council elections-February, Inaugural Concert February and International Night-March. Members of the International Students Society annually presented an evening of entertainment at Lisner Auditorium performing in their national costumes. Parents Weekend-March; Dance Concert-April; Spring Weekend-May, May Day Awards Night, May Day Queen and student leaders were honored.
Each of the twelve national sororities were represented by two delegates to the Panhellenic Council. Twelve national fraternities were recognized on the campus. Other social and interest groups included the Big Sis, Cheerleaders, Colonial Boosters, GWU Dance Company, Enosinian Debating society, Libertarian Society, Pep Band Political Affairs Society, Serve, Students for a Democratic Society, University Players, University Press Club, Women's Recreational Association, Young Democrats and Young Republicans. - 1968-1969 Student Handbook
